Iroquois Park Northern Overlook Restoration

Back to News & Updates

Come out to see the design recommendation presention on  August 19, 2014 at the Iroquois Amphitheater from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

LATEST PROJECT NEWS:
Work done todate:
Old switchback trail removed. This railroad tie-lined trail has been closed for years because of the erosion issues. The destructive ties had never been removed. So now the ugly railroad ties are gone and the hill has been graded and seeded. Crews have placed erosion-prevention “blankets” so the hill will not melt away with any rain.

Project Information:
Olmsted Parks Conservancy and Louisville Metro Parks & Recreation are working together on the much-anticipated project to enhance the overlook by improving its sustainability and making it less prone to erosion, while creating a vibrant and welcoming public space.

We’re grateful for the support of Mayor Fischer and the Louisville Metro Council in committing $500,000 to this project, which will be matched with another $500,000 through a fundraising campaign by the Conservancy.
