Scott spends his workdays wearing bespoke suites from Tom James, the custom clothier where he has worked for 24 years. But when he is not meeting clients, there is a good chance you will find Scott dressed in an Olmsted Parks Conservancy shirt, jeans and work boots, ready to work in his beloved Olmsted Parks. As a resident of the Highland-Douglass neighborhood Scott reports he is in Cherokee and Seneca Park every single day, either walking, running, or volunteering.
Scott volunteers as a Park Steward, and has stepped up to serve as manager of Wildflower Woods in Cherokee Park. This leadership role is extremely valuable to the Conservancy and greatly increases the capacity of its Team for Healthy Parks. Scott says this about his time spent time volunteering, “It gives me the opportunity to disconnect from the trappings of everyday life, and to witness the beauty of the natural world in a hands-on way.” Scott also supports the Conservancy with his annual membership donation.
When asked about his on-going support as a member, Scott says, “I totally get the concept and need for a public private partnership. There is not enough money in the coffers of local government to fund the work that is necessary in the Olmsted Parks. Olmsted Parks Conservancy bridges the gap. I use the Olmsted Parks daily and the money I donate keeps my parks extraordinary.”
