Olmsted Parks Conservancy is now hiring an entry level Field Crew Technician. This is an incredible opportunity to be part of the team charged with preserving, enhancing and protecting Louisville’s historic Olmsted Park System. Our park system consists of 17 parks and 6 parkways, anchored by the flagship parks Cherokee, Iroquois and Shawnee.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Under supervision of the Natural Areas Manager, the Field Crew Technician 1 supports natural areas restoration in our Olmsted Parks. Projects may include planting and plant maintenance, exotic species removal, trail maintenance, meadow management, and other general maintenance tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS
- Natural areas plant management including invasive species removal.
- Herbicide application
- Monitor and track restorative actions for efficacy.
- Maintain tools and management log.
- Use GIS to collect data about ongoing management.
- Interact with the public in a respectful way.
- Other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Education, skills or experience in landscape maintenance or natural areas management or heavy equipment maintenance and operation
- Valid driver’s license that must be maintained for duration of employment.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people including volunteers. Excellent communication skills are a must. Ability to perform physical labor outside during extreme weather conditions.
