History of Baxter Square
Baxter Square is Louisville’s first park! While it was founded in 1880, the Olmsted firm made recommendations for improvements to the urban green space in 1892. It is more formal in nature than Olmsted’s expansive, flowing designs for the urban woodland parks and was intended to build community among neighborhood residents.
