Celebrating Planned Gifts: The 1891 Society Dinner in Shawnee Park
Once a year, Olmsted Parks Conservancy creates an exclusive park experience like no other for …
When Frederick Law Olmsted designed Louisville’s park system, he started with three main parks: Cherokee, Iroquois and Shawnee. Designed in 1892, Shawnee Park is the West Louisville cornerstone of the park system. The two principal features of the park are the concourses that afford extensive views and the expansive Great Lawn, a signature Olmsted design feature.
Olmsted Parks Conservancy recognizes Native American and Indigenous peoples as the longest serving stewards of the land that is now our park system. We strive to build more inclusive parks, and we commit to fostering diversity and respect both in nature and neighborhoods.
