Olmsted Parks Conservancy is soliciting requests for proposals (RFP) from qualified firms to provide professional strategic planning services. The consultant team shall provide a detailed scope of work and cost estimate.
OPC is the non-profit partner to Louisville Parks and Recreation in caring for and investing in our 17 historic Olmsted-designed parks and 6 parkways. Since our founding in 1989, we have overseen over $50 million of investment in our Olmsted Park system.
This year marks the bicentennial of the birth of Frederick Law Olmsted with celebrations all across the country, and Louisville is in the spotlight. We are home to one of only 4 park systems Olmsted ever designed, ours being the most complete and fully realized.
In late 2021, we received a generous $8 million gift to purchase 25 acres adjacent to Cherokee Park. This major expansion of our park system has attracted national attention with recent coverage of our parks in The Saturday Evening Post, The Hill, The New York Times, and other publications and podcasts.
Given the continued expansion of our work and mission, this is the right time for a comprehensive strategic planning process to lead us into the future.
