This summer, a variety of volunteer groups have visited Louisville’s Frederick Law Olmsted Parks to help make a difference in our community and in the places they love. Catholic Heart Workcamp and Nazarene Youth Conference sent youth from all across the country to several locations throughout our city in June and July, volunteering close to 1000 hours in Iroquois and Cherokee Parks! More recently, youth from all over Kentucky taking part in the Governor’s Scholars Program came out to help in Louisville’s parks, while neighbors of Willow Park and Tyler Park worked closer to home in their small neighborhood parks. Other volunteer groups such as Roadhouse Trail Runners and Kentucky Mountain Bike Association have been braving the hot afternoons to keep trail corridors clear for Cherokee and Seneca Park users, and King Elementary School Cheer Squad and Fighting Chance Louisville came out to remove litter in Shawnee Park.
