Summit Field, also known as “burnt knob”, is a grass prairie at the top of Iroquois Park. Because the “knob” is built on loess— ️ wind-blown sand/dust originating in The Great Plains—it’s home to different types of plants and animals than the rest of the city. Education Program Manager Matt Spalding takes us on a virtual tour of the area (restored by Olmsted Parks Conservancy) to explore the park’s biodiversity, history, and ecological impact.
